Over the last five years, he has been pairing typefaces with music to create stunning portraits through a process he refers to as typographic illustration. After selecting a font, he layers thousands of letters on top of one another until a face emerges.

Evan was recently commissioned to make a video for a new Jay-Z song for RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. The song, “Brooklyn (Go Hard)” produced by Kanye West and featuring Santogold, provides the background beats while the letters “Brooklyn” fall into place, creating an image of Jay-Z himself.

Originally introducing a prototype of their Bamboo laptop last year, computer company Asus has now launched their environmentally friendly computer as part of Taiwan’s IT Exhibition. The laptops shell features real bamboo paneling as part of Asus’ effort to become a more “green” product manufacturer while sporting a 12.1-inch screen, Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor, and Microsoft’s Windows Vista Operating System. The company is scheduled to launch their bamboo series in the US with a retail price of approximately $1800 USD.

The photos of each of Selby’s subjects can be seen on TheSelby.com. Among the others are TOMS shoes founder Blake Mycoskie and musician Bobb Bruno. The home interior proves a great window into personality.

I got a chance to work with Aaron several years back during my stint with Nike; I can attest that Aaron is definitely one of the nicest and well versed art curators in the game.

Some have described it as a hybrid between the Boxter and the Carrera. The 2.7-liter engine in the new Cayman generates 245 horsepower, while 201 lb.-ft. of torque arrives at just 4600 rpm and stays with you to 6000 rpm. For Holiday 2008 Gourmet introduces the Resort Collection, which consists of the Due and the Quattro. Fresh off stints in Tokyo and Hong Kong, Chanel's UFO-like mobile art pavilion is making a stop in Central Park before being transported over to London, Moscow and Paris. The preconstructed Zaha Hadid-designed orb is being pieced together now in Rumsey Field in anticipation of an October 20th opening. Like the Gates, the Chanel exhibit is free and open to the public, though there's definitely a commercial bent: The structure will contain work by 20 contemporary artists "inspired by the legendary quilted Chanel bag."

Back in the Spring of '06, we started this party at Holly's in Hollywood. "PRIVATE" was a memorable time of old and new friends gathering every week to convene at a spot that was truly our own, it was like partying in someone's living room. It was also there that a young cat named DJ Gomez Warren IV was first truly introduced into the scene. We kept "PRIVATE" @ Holly's going on until Fall of '07. I just had to post some classic pics from a truly classic party!! Shout outs to my collaborators Doug Wu and Arsen for keeping the movement going!!

Ron Mueck is a Londonbased photo-realist artist. Born in Melbourne, Australia, to parents who were toy makers, he labored on children's television shows for 15 years before working on special effects for such films as Labyrinth,, a 1986 epic starring David Bowie. Eventually Mueck concluded that photography pretty much destroys the physical presence of the original object, and so he turned to fine art and sculpture. In the early 1990's, still in his advertising days, Mueck was commissioned to make something highly realistic, and was wondering what material would do the trick. Latex was the usual, but he wanted something harder, more precise. Luckily, he saw a little architectural decor on the wall of a boutique and inquired as to the nice, pink stuff's nature. Fiberglass resin was the answer, and Mueck has made it his bronze and marble ever since.
