Gerrit Rietveld Utrecht Armchair

Designed in 1935, and produced today by Cassina, the Utrecht Armchair is built of a steel frame polyurethane foam and polyester padding. A little more comfortable than Rietveld’s more explicit De Stijl designs, these armchairs still grow from the same interest in planes and points. As such, you get a pretty good indication of how earlier ideals fold into later works.

Evan Roth x Jay-Z

Based in Hong Kong, Evan Roth is the co-founder of Graffiti Research Lab and F.A.T. (Free Art & Technology), a R&D lab for the public domain.

Over the last five years, he has been pairing typefaces with music to create stunning portraits through a process he refers to as typographic illustration. After selecting a font, he layers thousands of letters on top of one another until a face emerges.

Evan was recently commissioned to make a video for a new Jay-Z song for RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. The song, “Brooklyn (Go Hard)” produced by Kanye West and featuring Santogold, provides the background beats while the letters “Brooklyn” fall into place, creating an image of Jay-Z himself.

2010 Porsche Panamera

Porsche's new Panamera Gran Turismo may be reminiscent of the automaker's sports cars, but it is "much more than a blown-up 911," says Michael Mauer, chief designer at Porsche. From the outside, the Panamera's looks are unmistakably Porsche, with its visible exhaust tips and V-shaped seams along the hood and rear window tapering in the rear. The automaker says it wanted to make the four-door look as sporty as the 911 - it has succeeded. Haaaaaard!!

Originally introducing a prototype of their Bamboo laptop last year, computer company Asus has now launched their environmentally friendly computer as part of Taiwan’s IT Exhibition. The laptops shell features real bamboo paneling as part of Asus’ effort to become a more “green” product manufacturer while sporting a 12.1-inch screen, Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor, and Microsoft’s Windows Vista Operating System. The company is scheduled to launch their bamboo series in the US with a retail price of approximately $1800 USD.

The Hundreds x Disney

The Hundreds will soon be releasing their collaboration with Disney, in which they revisited some of Disney’s characters. Both the LA and the San Francisco shop already got the Disney make-over, thus the release can only be around the corner.

Todd Selby’s been engaging people “In the know” and photographing them in their homes for quite sometime. The Clones hips us to one of the latest, a meeting with Beautiful Loser’s founder Aaron Rose. The photos of each of Selby’s subjects can be seen on TheSelby.com. Among the others are TOMS shoes founder Blake Mycoskie and musician Bobb Bruno. The home interior proves a great window into personality.

I got a chance to work with Aaron several years back during my stint with Nike; I can attest that Aaron is definitely one of the nicest and well versed art curators in the game.

Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse collection

After the successful collaboration of Louis Vuitton and artist Stephen Sprouse in 2001, the two team up for the second time, utilizing the very same graffiti print. This time around they worked on bags, sneakers, shoes, sunglasses as well as some clothing and many more accessories.

Just in time for the “Rock On Mars” retrospective that will be taking place at Deitch Projects from January 8th, and the release of “The Stephen Sprouse Book”, Louis Vuitton will be coming out with the commemorative collection this month.

Along with the release of the product, Louis Vuitton will launch welovesprouse.com, a website dedicated to the artist, showcasing interviews with people that knew Sprouse. In celebration of the new LV release

2009 Porsche Cayman

It has always been my vision to own a Porsche as a part of my fleet of cars, and the new the Porsche Cayman S automobile is indeed a car worth having. Some have described it as a hybrid between the Boxter and the Carrera. The 2.7-liter engine in the new Cayman generates 245 horsepower, while 201 lb.-ft. of torque arrives at just 4600 rpm and stays with you to 6000 rpm. The Cayman S is armed with 3.4 liters of total swept volume and a maximum of 295 horsepower at 6250 rpm. Maximum torque is 251 lb.-ft. at 4400 rpm. Niiiice.

Puma Sailing Team

The Volvo Ocean Race is the most extreme, most dangerous, and most challenging sailing event on the planet. Often referred to as the “Everest of Sailing,” the Volvo Ocean Race is a test of not only skill, but also endurance. The Puma Sailing team has joined the ranks of Prada to compete for the title this year.

Puma’s boat, Il Mostro, christened by Selma Hayek back in May, is already on it’s way as the race started a few days ago. It’ll be hard to miss their boat as it resemble a Puma shoe, in bright red complete with faux elastic straps and stitching along the hull.

Moncler Doudoune Flannel Down Jacket for Colette

Moncler is one of the premiere luxury outwear companies around. Releasing from their 2008 fall/winter collection is a limited edition down jacket by Moncler for colette. The French luxury company produces this piece with a sporty and thermal resistant design, made of light flannel wool. Along with nice black striped piping and front M-65 like pockets is a detachable hood. The jacket is now available at the colette online store.

Ice Cream Fall Winter Boots

Yeah, yeah, I know these are Ice Cream branded but, damnit if they aren't niiice. The Ice Cream camp kicks it into a higher gear pushing out more contemporary pieces instead of their usual brightly clad garments. Still incorporating some of that usual color spunk, they add boots into their footwear lineup. Featuring an indigo leather upper alongside contrast stitching and gold eyelets, Ice Cream keeps the details pretty laid back for the older crowd. These joints are now available at Ice Cream flagship stores with a retail of ¥37,590 (Approx. $372 USD).

I just recently met Victor Hsu through some mutual friends, his company Jump is a Taiwanese, Asian-Euro fusion brand. Jump’s new Sneaker Deluxe Line is providing a slick alternative in the upscale ’sneaker’ marketplace. The line features metallics, antiqued and quilted patent leathers that have the right amount of flash and sophistication. The collection will be available soon at select Bloomingdale’s nationwide, Oak NY, and Kitson in LA.

Gourmet Holiday '08 "Resort Collection"

My homies over at Gourmet hit the market last year with nice interpretations of Air Jordan’s. Upscale and clean silhouettes, as well as strong color options made up the collection.

For Holiday 2008 Gourmet introduces the Resort Collection, which consists of the Due and the Quattro. The Due comes in full grain calf suede, braided laces, double sided zipper closure and memory foam insoles. It will be available in black and bone. The Quattro features full grain tumbled calf nubuck with braided laces and memory foam insoles as well and will be released in dark chocolate and black.

Hyden Yoo Cardigans

Former Fear Factor contestant Hyden Yoo comes through with some great cardigans - the SOHO and Chelsea - for Fall. Both are made from 70/30 wool/cashmere blends and feature unique details making them more interesting than the traditional flat cards. The SOHO is fashioned with a wide ribbed mock shawl collar while the Chelsea comes as a pullover with a double breasted front and ribbed collar and sleeves. Definitely a good look for Winter.
